An important part of each employee’s job is participation in the agency’s orientation and training programs. In addition to meeting certain state requirements, we believe that training and continuing education are vital to Hawthorn’s success and to an individual’s personal growth.

Once an individual is hired, he/she must first go through an intensive, initial orientation program which focuses on the medical, psychological, and social needs of elders in the context of a structured community setting. Regular follow up trainings occur with every employee ranging from fire safety/emergency procedures training, to human rights, to infection control procedures. All employees must hold current certifications in first aid, CPR and medication administration in order to deal with any emergency situation which may arise.

Hawthorn Services provides First Aid and CPR Training on a monthly basis for all employees who register. Yolany Parenteau is our lead trainer and is certified through The American Red Cross of Pioneer Valley.

All trainings are held in the upstairs conference room at Hawthorn Services, 93 Main Street, Chicopee, MA. Individuals may register for one or both sections of this training by contacting Jay Henriques at (413) 592-5199 ext. 109.
